FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 12, 2023

Silver Bluff Brewing Company, a microbrewery based in Brunswick, Georgia, is proud to announce that it has been awarded a Silver Medal at the prestigious World Beer Cup®. This accolade was bestowed upon the brewery’s flagship beer, the Mexican Lager, cementing its place as one of the world’s finest beers.

The World Beer Cup®: “The Olympics of Beer”

The World Beer Cup®, often referred to as the “Olympics of Beer,” is the most prestigious beer competition in the world. Organized annually by the Brewers Association, the World Beer Cup® brings together over 200 highly qualified beer professionals who judge more than 100 style categories. The competition celebrates the art and science of brewing and promotes international brewing excellence. It acknowledges only the finest beers worldwide, ensuring consumers have access to exceptional brands. According to the World Beer Cup® website, 2,376 breweries across 51 countries submitted 10,213 beers in this year’s competition.

Award-winning Silver Bluff Mexican Lager

Mexican Lager, the flagship offering of Silver Bluff Brewing Co., is a testament to the brewery’s commitment to crafting high-quality beers. A beloved brew in the International Pilsener category, Mexican Lager has a distinct flavor profile which sets it apart. The Silver Medal win places it among the top-tier beers in this category, alongside gold winner Little Wing by Horse Thief Hollow Brewing Co. and bronze winner Icicle Premium Pilsner by Icicle Brewing Co.

The Success of Mexican Lager in the Market

Mexican Lager’s success extends beyond the World Beer Cup®. It is the lead-selling beer at Silver Bluff Brewery, enjoyed by a growing number of beer enthusiasts across Georgia. This brew won a Silver Medal in the 2020 US Open and has recently been distributed statewide. In June 2023, through a partnership with online sales platform TapRm, Mexican Lager and two additional Silver Bluff offerings, Golden Isles IPA and Beekeeper DIPA, will be available online to customers in 44 states.

Georgia Breweries Continue to Win Awards

The state of Georgia had a prominent showing at this year’s World Beer Cup® festival, with four awards recognizing the craft and quality of local breweries. These awards highlight Georgia’s vibrant and diverse craft beer scene, demonstrating the state’s ability to excel across various beer styles and categories.

Monday Night Brewing Garage, situated in Atlanta, garnered a silver award in the “Mixed-Culture Brett Beer” category for Barrel Farm, their mixed-culture tart saison. This achievement underscores the brewery’s prowess in crafting complex, flavorful beers that leverage Brettanomyces yeasts for unique flavor profiles. The silver award in this category signifies the mastery of Monday Night Brewing in harnessing these yeasts to create a beer that resonated with judges and stood out from 65 entries.

Silver Bluff Brewing Co. from Brunswick claimed a silver award in the International Pilsener category with their Mexican Lager. This reflects the global influence on Georgia’s brewing scene, with Silver Bluff delivering a beer that competes favorably with international standards. The beer stands out for successfully representing a style that originated outside the U.S., demonstrating the versatility and adaptability of Georgia’s breweries.

In the German-Style Pilsener category, Creature Comforts Brewing Co. in Athens won a bronze award for their beer Bibo. This is a testament to Georgia’s ability to brew beers that honor traditional methods and styles.

Meanwhile, New Realm Brewing Co. in Atlanta won a bronze in the Contemporary American-Style Lager category for their Blackberry Smoke American Lager, showing the brewery’s innovative spirit and commitment to pushing boundaries while maintaining high-quality brewing standards.

Overall, these wins are a testament to the thriving craft beer industry in Georgia and its ability to impress on both national and international stages.
